The US-Algeria trade relationship is dynamic and each year the trade volume between the two countries increases. One of the most positive and collaborative sectors of trade is the aviation and defense sector. The US-Algeria Business Council is currently chaired by Mr. Paul Mikolashek of Raytheon, an industry leader in new technology. Previously the US-Algeria Business Council was chaired by Mr. Donald Wilhelm of Northrop Grumman, another industry leader. Many US aviation and defense companies operate in Algeria enhancing Algeria’s security and growth.

Several of Algeria’s most productive industrial sectors have benefited from US participation and investment. Currently Algeria is conducting significant financial reforms to increase transparency and efficiency. Recently the Government of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria ratified a law concerning US-Algeria trade. According to the Ordinance n°9-01 - 29 Rajab 1430, all future transactions for the payment of goods must be conducted by letter of credit. Additionally all imported goods must be new.
