The US-Algeria trade relationship is dynamic and each year the trade volume between the two countries increases. Recently the Government of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria ratified a law concerning US-Algeria trade that will change the way Algerianimporters pay for goods. According to the Ordinance n°9-01 - 29 Rajab 1430, all future transactions for the payment of goods must be conducted by letter of credit. Additionally all imported goods must be new.

2012 ALGERIA PAVILION AT THE
DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FOOD EXPO
April 30 - May 3, 2012 Dallas, Texas
On April 30 to May 3, 2012 The US-Algeria Business Council and the Embassy of Algeria, in Washington, DC, will host the Algeria Pavilion Dallas International Food Expo in Dallas, Texas. The Algeria Pavilion will feature alimentary products that are available for export from Algeria including couscous, pasta, olive oil, dates, cookies and juices. Additionally during the Algeria Pavilion, a delegation of Algerian buyers will be at the Dallas International Food Expo to meet with US food producers and purchase bulk qualities of food for export to Algeria.
Visiting the Algeria Pavilion is an excellent opportunity to meet with Algeria’s leading businessmen in the field of food and import-export. Algerian products are quickly becoming very popular among American consumers as the health benefits of organic produce are being published. Additionally, Algeria remains of the most attractive markets for US food products. With a population of over 35 million people, Algeria is a dynamic destination for US exporters.

On September 25 - 30, 2010, the US-Algeria Business Council and the Embassy of Algeria in Washington, DC organized and hosted the 2010 US Trade & Investment Mission to Algeria. Over 50 US delgates participated in the 2010 US Trade Mission to Algeria representing more than 40 US companies. This was the largest and most high profile trade mission in the history of US-Algeria trade.
This year, the US Trade Mission to Algeria was led by Mr. Paul Mikolashek, Chairman of the US-Algeria Business Council and Vice President of Raytheon International who stated:
"This year's US Trade Mission to Algeria offers a great opportunity for US companies to seek new markets for our products and services. Algeria continues to show promise as a destination for US investment and a market for American products and has announced its increased interest expanding mutually beneficial business relationships."
The 2010 US Trade & Investment Mission to Algeria was the third annual trade mission organized by the US-Algeria Business Council and the Embassy of Algeria, in Washington, DC. The Honorable Abdallah Baali, Ambassador of Algeria to the United States, remains a key supporter of these trade missions and his ongoing support and leadership have secured numerous high-level meetings for the US delegates participating in the trade missions. The Embassy of Algeria in Washington, DC, under the Ambassador’s leadership, plays a key role in the organization of these trade missions.

ALGERIAN DELEGATION AT THE
2009 PACK EXPO

In October 2009, the USABC and the Embassy of Algeria, in Washington, DC, organized a large Study & Trade Mission to the 2009 Pack Expo in Las Vegas. This activity was designed to facilitate new contacts for Algerian companies buying new packaging systems and to learn how packing techniques can help Algerian products reach American consumers.
The objective of this trade mission was to increase US-Algeria trade through the application of new marketing and packaging techniques. The Pack Expo of Las Vegas is the world’s largest and most prestigious trade fair event focused on packaging, processing and marketing.
During the four days of the Expo the USABC delegates met with the world’s top packaging producers in all domains including pharmaceuticals, food, agriculture, bulk items, consumer electronics, clothing and jewelry, telecommunications, cosmetics and beauty, caning and freezing, transportation, and snack foods.
